Victron SmartShunt IP21:
Â
The SmartShunt is an all in one battery monitor, only without a display. Your phone acts as the display. The SmartShunt connects via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect App on your phone (or tablet) and you can conveniently read out all monitored battery parameters, like state of charge, time to go, historical information and much more. Alternatively the SmartShunt can be connected and be read by a GX device. Connection to the SmartShunt is made via a VE.Direct cable.
The SmartShunt is a good alternative for a BMV battery monitor, especially for systems where battery monitoring is needed but less wiring and clutter is wanted. The SmartShunt is equipped with Bluetooth, a VE.Direct port and a connection that can be used for: monitoring a second battery, midpoint monitoring or a temperature sensor.
Models:
IP21: 300A, 500A, 1000A, 2000A
IP65: 300A, 500A, 1000A, 2000A

Additional Information:
Battery monitor-Â The SmartShunt is a battery monitor. It measures battery voltage and current. Based on these measurements, the battery state of charge and time to go is calculated. It also keeps track of historical data, such as deepest discharge, average discharge and number of charge/discharge cycles. The battery monitor can connect via Bluetooth to the VictronConnect app. The VictronConnect app is used to read out all monitored battery parameters or to change settings. The battery monitor can be connected to a GX device, such as the Cerbo GX or the ColorControl GX. When connected, the battery can be monitored locally or remotely, via the VRM portal.
The battery monitor has an auxiliary input that can be used to monitor the voltage of a second battery or to monitor the midpoint of a battery bank. The auxiliary input can also be used for battery temperature monitoring together with the optional Temperature sensor for BMV. The battery monitor can provide real time battery data in a VE.Smart network. It provides battery temperature, battery voltage and battery current information to the VE.Smart network for use by Victron solar chargers and select Victron AC chargers.
Â
Why should I monitor my battery?-Â Batteries are used in a wide variety of applications, mostly to store energy for later use. But how much energy is stored in the battery? No one can tell by just looking at it. The service life of batteries depends on many factors. Battery life may be shortened by under-charging, over-charging, excessively deep discharges, excessive charge or discharge currents, and by high ambient temperature. Monitoring the battery with a battery monitor will give important feedback to the user so that remedial measures can be taken when necessary. Doing this will extend battery life and the battery monitor will quickly pay for itself.
Â
Mounting the SmartShunt-Â The SmartShunt is rated IP21, it is not waterproof and has to be mounted in a dry location. The SmartShunt has two 5.5 mm holes for mounting purposes located in the base of the SmartShunt. The holes can be used to screw or bolt the SmartShunt onto a hard surface (screws are not included).
